Tender

To hold you in my arms

And feel your tight embrace

Is to hold a well-known stranger

In another time and place.

To have you rest your head upon my shoulder

And have your touch upon my breast

Is to feel the unexperienced

And brings a shudder to my chest.

To feel you so close to me

And stroke your dampened back

Is to know the newest emotion

And find in you that which I lack.

To kiss you low and tender

And develop into lust,

Is to give ourselves to each other

And share the highest trust.

About this poem

This is from 1991, the year my life changed and I fell in love for the very first time. As I said beneath 'Infinity', my First Love and I were both virgins when we met - indeed, he gave me my first kiss with tongues...

A year younger than 'Infinity', this poem shows the naivety of young people new to romance and sex.
