Twilight

Close your eyes

We're back naked, side-by-side

Your arm under my neck.

It's not dark now

But neither is it light.

Yet.

My cheek is stuck to your

Rising and falling body,

Moving with your chest.

Our breathing may have slowed

But we're still covered in your sweat.

We move, I wriggle

To make your flesh fit.

We drift.

I wake us both up

Talking in my sleep

Make you jump, make your heart skip a beat.

You exhale and we entangle again,

Arms, hips, thighs to our feet.

My dreams return and take me...

There sat a feeling in my gut

When we parted in the morning.

When I turned away, mouth covered

Because I was yawning.

The last words from your lips

To my ears, in slow motion

Like freezing drips

That

Ringing

In

My

Ears.

Tongues silent and scarred from bites

Your cage has grown robust.

Close your eyes, if you must.

We're back naked side-by-side.

With your arm under my neck

In the twilight.
