Crystal Bitten

When I look around now there’s nothing I can see

Of the talking, smiles and magick

That became you and me.

Falling slowly into memories

That look that takes your eyes.

Tight embraces

Mirroring each other in our

Faces

Turned away.

Laboured breathing.

Neither

Knowing what to say.

An invisible thread wound through our fingers.

Each star

Sublime and hell

Each ill-said syllable

Lingers.

And what now?

No surprises

Left unsaid

Sleeplessness until the sun rises.

To want some sort of yielding

A

Break

In the feelings.

No struggle for power

A softness to set in

Curling up like a crystal-bitten flower

Set in ice

Set in stone

Set so still

Silence to bring

You take another pill.

Drifting began

And I cannot stop to

Hear and speak

And slumber with you.

Fragile contact

What’s left is bare fact

My scarlet words

Discarded

Ignored

Thrown

d

w

n

On the mat.

Now closed

Now hard

No winners

Because there’s no trump card.

Yes, I get lonely

Wanting

You only

To meet and talk and smile

Wrap around each other for

A while.

Then reality bites

And

Piece

By

Piece

It all falls away

Fluttering around my feet.

Fantasy?

The ripping of my heart.

It’s just denial

Making what we had appear so futile

Both wishing to go back to the start.
